01. Victoria Falls, Zambia & Zimbabwe
In the Zambezi River, on the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia, is the gigantic and very beautiful waterfalls Victoria Falls. One of the waterfalls of heroes big draws is the “Devils Pool” – a natural pool perched on the edge of the mighty waterfall. The brave can lean over the edge and look straight down into the gorge, but be careful – here have been reported deaths!
02. Iguazu Falls, Argentina & Brazil
The spectacular Iguazu waterfalls on the border between Argentina and Brazil are located in some of the lushest rain forests in South America. Falls consists of more than 20 225 large and small waterfalls, of which about 80% falls, are located on the Argentinian side. For the best experience you should visit both sides – the Brazilian side offers for the stunning panoramas beyond the falls, while the Argentine side allows you to get close, so you can experience the falls with all your senses.
03. Angel Falls, Venezuela
Angel waterfall, which also goes by the name Kerepakupai Meru, located in Canaima National Park in Venezuela. From the mountain Auyantepui waterfalls sharply and unbroken 807 meters, and then continue further 172 meters down to the river Kerep. Overall, then Angel Falls a total height of 979 meters, and is the world’s highest waterfall.
04. Skógafoss, Iceland
Iceland is teeming with literally a wealth of the most beautiful waterfalls to choose from and they are all unique in their own way. But the intimate experience you can get on Skógafoss makes it one of our favorites. With a vertical drop of 60 meters, this is one of Iceland’s largest, and thanks to the amount of water vapor Skógafoss produce, you can see one, or sometimes a double rainbow on sunny days.
05. Niagara Falls, USA and Canada
Niagara Falls is a common name for three waterfalls on the Niagara River, on the border between the United States and Canada. On the American side, one can see the great “American Falls” and the smaller “Bridal Veil Falls”. “Horseshoe Falls” – the largest and perhaps most impressive, you will find on the other hand, the Canadian side. For the ultimate experience you should visit the falls during the evening when the lights are on then you will experience a dramatic light show.
06. Kaieteur Falls, Guiana
With its impressive unbroken vertical drop of 226 meters this waterfall, in the middle of Kaieteur National Park, one of the main attractions of Guyana. Kaieteur Falls is far more remote than the other waterfall on our list and you can get here in two ways – a simple and a bit more difficult. For those who are a bit of an adventurer, so you can walk – a hike that can take from three to five days. It is much easier (and more convenient) option to fly from Georgetown, Guyana’s capital. The flight takes about 45 minutes.
07. Vernal Falls, Yosemite National Park, USA
Yosemite National Park is one of the most magnificent in the world and is home to vast forests, towering granite cliffs, and most importantly – beautiful waterfalls! Our favorite is the Vernal Falls. You can either watch the spectacular waterfall on the distance from the “Glacier Point Road”, or hike along the John Muir Trail. Best time to visit Yosemite in May or June.
08. Jog Falls, India
Jog Falls in India consists of four consecutive waterfalls, where at least has a name that represents its character: Raja’ens (king), Roar’s, rocket and Rani’ens (queen). The water flow varies greatly depending on the season and the best time to visit these waterfalls are said to be between June and September when monsoon-season. During this time the water level rises sharply and waterfall switches power to one of the world’s most powerful.
09. Vøringsfossen, Norway
Denmark’s northern neighbor Norway is home to a wonderful waterfall, namely Vøringsfossen, located in Mabo valley It has a vertical drop of 182 meters, of which 145 meters is freefall. This waterfall is perfect for those who do not want to travel halfway around the world to experience nature’s amazing rush.
10. Detian Waterfall, China & Vietnam
Detian Waterfall is on the border between China and Vietnam and consists of three falls. Detian is not very high, only 30 meters, but with almost 200 meters in width, it is Asia’s largest waterfall. Sure, you feel like a swim?
